Green Othéa
with Alison Yip, 2026

Composition, feat. Alison Yip. Released on Superpang: World Tour Vol. 2 (PANG50), Superpang, Rome

Independently recorded, composed and mixed, Green Othéa is the first published work in an ongoing series in which Mackenzie invites artists and writers to contribute poems to original compositions for electronics, field recording, percussion, Pure Data and synthesis. Sound, language and guiding images move through the pieces as interwoven elements. The series will continue to expand.

The piece takes as its starting point a guiding image from medieval writer Christine de Pizan’s Epistle of Othea (c. 1400), in which Daphne transforms into a laurel tree as she escapes her pursuer. Alison Yip contributed her poem for the work.

Composition, recording and mixing: Michelle Helene Mackenzie. Poem: Alison Yip.
